Description
The University seeks to engage a Network Engineer in the Department of Information and Communication Technology
Responsibilities
As a NETWORK ENGINEER, you will be
-
Design, deploy, configure, and maintain campus LAN, WAN, and data centre networks
-
Ensure high availability and resilience of wired and wireless networks
-
Monitor network performance, capacity, and utilisation; recommend improvements
-
Manage network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, and access points
-
Support network security controls, including VLANs, access control lists, and firewall rules
-
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents and outages within agreed SLAs
-
Participate in network upgrades, expansions, and infrastructure modernisation projects
-
Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration backups
-
Work closely with the Cybersecurity Specialist to ensure a secure network design
-
Provide second- and third-line technical support and mentorship to junior ICT staff
-
Support integration of cloud services and external connectivity providers
-
Ensure compliance with institutional ICT policies and standards
Qualification
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering/Telecommunications, Network Engineering or related field
-
Five (5) Ordinary Level Passes including English Language and Mathematics
-
Networking certification will be an added advantage

Minimum two (2) years hands-on experience in enterprise or campus network environments
