The University seeks to engage a Software Development Manager in the Department of Information and Communication Technology

Responsibilities

As a SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, you will be

  • Define and implement SMART objectives to guide team performance and ensure timely delivery of projects
  • Lead and oversee the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering through to deployment and maintenance
  • Mentor and coach team members to strengthen technical skills and improve overall productivity
  • Enforce adherence to established software development standards, methodologies, and best practices
  • Identify and resolve performance and workflow challenges within the team in a timely manner
  • Track project progress against milestones and ensure successful completion of deliverables
  • Review system designs and validate application functionality through structured testing and debugging processes
  • Champion the integration of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and data analytics, to drive innovation
  • Maintain accurate documentation of development activities, system changes, and project status
  • Strengthen data protection by implementing robust database security controls and business continuity measures
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the university to improve existing systems and develop new digital solutions
Qualification
  • The ideal candidate should hold a Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science or Software Engineering
  • In addition, a Bachelors Degree in one of these fields is required
  • At least (5) Ordinary Level Passes, including Mathematics and English Language
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following areas: Database Management, DevOps and CI/CD, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Server Management & Infrastructure, Cloud Computing, or AI & Emerging Technologies is considered an advantage
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in software development, with verifiable successful implementations, is essential
