The University seeks to engage a Deputy Librarian in the Library Department
Duties and Responsibilities
-
Assisting in the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of the Library's strategic plans, policies, and operational plans
-
Assisting in the coordination and supervision of library departments, units, and services to ensure efficient and effective service delivery
-
Coordinating the implementation and evaluation of library projects, programmes, and strategic initiatives
-
Assisting in the development and management of print, electronic, and digital information resources
-
Supporting the implementation of scholarly communication initiatives, including the institutional repository, open access, research data management, and research support services
-
Assisting in the coordination of collection development, electronic resource management, and digital library services
-
Coordinating information literacy, user education, and research support programmes
-
Assisting in monitoring library performance, quality assurance activities, and the preparation of statutory and management reports
-
Supporting digital transformation initiatives, including the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and other emerging technologies to enhance library operations, teaching, learning, and research support
-
Assisting in resource mobilisation, grant proposal development, and strategic partnerships
-
Assisting in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the Library budget and ensuring prudent utilisation of resources

Supervising, mentoring, coaching, and appraising library staff
-
Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the University Librarian
Qualifications and Experience

A Master's degree in Library and Information Science or Information Science

A Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science
-
Five (5) Ordinary level passes including English Language
-
A minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience in an academic or research library, including at least three (3) years at Sub-Librarian level or equivalent senior supervisory/management level
